Mr. Parisrama is a 32 year old hard working software professional. His job requires him to work from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm. He also travels two hours to work and back. Recently he was introduced to the Hare Krishna yoga and has been fascinated by the process. He even visited the nearest Bhakti Yoga centre on a Sunday with his family and heard the discourses and participated in the kirtans. He loves to chant and has a desire to practise the process more seriously. His wife and two small children have no objection to his practise of the Hare Krishna yoga. However his challenge is to manage his time. He had heard recently from a senior practitioner that if one wants to make steady progress on the spiritual path, he or she has to rise early and chant a minimum two hours. The devotee had also mentioned that one should chant a fixed number of rounds as an exclusive activity, and not try to make it one part of multi tasking. Parisrama feels guilty on hearing this because he usually chants his rounds while travelling to work in the crowded trains of Mumbai. This helps him save time but now he wonders how he can adjust his schedules. The job pressure is getting intense and he sometimes has to work till 10.00 pm. He wonders if he can continue his daily meditation sessions in the trains and maybe on Sundays chant nicely at home. The passion of his work has left him with no choice.
Mr. Parisrama approaches you, a long standing friend, and you can see he is sincere at heart but caught up in various challenging situations.
Pareshan is troubled by his inability to chant attentively. He feels frustrated as the chanting session leaves him tired and dry. He’s heard in classes that the Holy Names of Krishna is sweeter than the sweetest.

We understand that work pressures are quite intense and you are not able to find time for chanting. But if you are sincere, then Krishna will make necessary arrangements, but you have to make the effort to prioritise your chanting. You have to make attempts to manage your time by getting up a little early to squeeze in some time for chanting. As you persevere, things will fall into place. Just pray and take heart.

Nothing else to comment. Just keep taalking with Krishna sincerely, ie chanting with prayerful heart, He is controller of mind, time amd Maya and help is guaranteed. Do pray for me.

I have experienced that if we show our sincerity to God then he will give us ways to do his bhakti well….Mr Parisrama has to take time from his busy schedule & then God, as promised in Gita, will carry what he lacks & preserve what he has……

In my humble opinion and real life experience, I would request Parishram to parishram and complete at least 12 rounds in the morning before he leaves to office. 4 he can still complete in train. But along with it, have the faith that Krishna is time. Faith is key here. Just put the faith for even 1 week and see how it changes life for you. If you give Krishna 1.5 hours in the morning, Krishna will help to increase your efficiency or decrease the work load, so that you are done with everything by night, so you can have enough sleep to again get up and chant your 12 rounds in the morning. Chanting creates amazing potency for you throughout the day. Of course, you can also use your train time to think about and plan your day's work, so things can become easy during the day. And in the office, as you are a software engineer, avoid browsing the internet/news websites/facebook etc and I am sure you will save a lot of time to get your work done. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Amazing reply by Gopinath Chandra p, We can show the sincerity of our heart to the lord by trying our best to chant when the circumstances are favorable. To the degree we are sincere and we show it by our action to the lord, He will make our life more simple and sublime. Ultimately its our desire that decide what we will get – "Krsna will certainly provide us his devotion if we desire it strongly and show by our actions"

Chanting quality and quantity cannot be compromised on any grounds.
Parisram Prabhu must dissect his day minutely to identify inefficiencies and unimportant work and plug them effectively. This will make time for chanting, at least in parts but with full focus.
Finally, there is a magic wand, that Krishna and Guru wield in favour of the sincere struggling soul. And suddenly, everything falls into place and time becomes available.
Sincere endeavour in KC certainly has a magical quality.

When our palghar congrcation ask this question to HHRM he told that dont count that chanting in train or make whole train spritual.if we have to develop geniune love for krishna then we have to chant in association of devotees.by our sincecre efforts krishna will definetly help us.

I faced almost the same situation & with Krsna's arrangment got a chance to attend a class "Life Style Management". This class talked about how much time one should spend in sleeping, eating, job etc. One point which really hit me is, one should sleep not more than 7 hours, ideal is 6.5 hours. I travel 2 hours daily to office & utilize that time in hearing kirtan or spiritual class. I leave for office at 7:30 am but before that I try to complete atleast 12-14 rounds & remaining rounds, sometimes I complete during lunch time or before starting my work in office.
I have also seen few devotees try to stay close to office to avoid traveling time & utilize that time in Krishna's service.

I many a times face the problem of not doing my duty properly, but the comments by Gopinath Chandra and Vrajbiharidas are wonderful. Krishna is a person and so is the Holyname. Therefore all that one can do is to be sincere and show to Krishna by making the best use of bad bargain with the limited time and Krishna can do wonders.

i agree with gopinath chandra. i feel the key for parishram is to be sincere. krishna is a person and the holy names is also a person. to the extent we are sincere in using the available time to chant attentively. krishna will reciprocate by arranging more time. if we make the best use of a bad bargain and show our sincerity, krishna will reciprocate beyond our wildest imagination

Even mine half of rounds are done during travelling in Bus….
One thing which my counseller, HG Paramhans Prabhu, suggested me to write down the routine with time since morning to evening to know how much time spent on each activity. Then divide into Self, Sadhana, Office Work & Travelling, For Family, and Seva. This has helped me to focus on where time is getting wasted unnecessarily. Hope will be of some help

Dost Parishram, I understand u r sincere. Therefore the Lord will definitely help you. Just pray to the Lord expressing to him that you desire to chant Hare Krishna as an exclusive activity. He will then orchestrate your life so that you will find more time.
And yes, one more thing. On Sundays chant very, very nicely. In that way you can prove to the Lord your sincerity. When the Lord sees that you are making good use of the time available to you, he will happily provide you more time.
